The Dominion Post reported on councillors' meeting attendance and Councillor Ian McKinnon was very pleased to have 'Topped the poll'. Ian accepts that as most Council is business is finally decided at meetings, it is important that Coucillors are in attendance

The figures show most councillors are diligent and turn up for work at committee meetings. The councillors with the best attendance records — 90 per cent or higher — are Ian McKinnon, Mr Armstrong and Mr Ruben. Mr McKinnon said: "We also meet with constituents, deal with issues, and have to read detailed briefing papers before meetings."

WELLINGTON Mayor Kerry Prendergast has the second-worst meeting attendance rate of any city councillor ... but she's still doing 80-hour weeks.

Her staff said the seemingly low attendance rate was because she was an ex-officio member of all committees and could not stay for every meeting because of the heavy demands of her mayoral duties.

Councillors are paid between $62,539 and $112,674.
